The Modulus of Rigidity, also known as Shear Modulus is the ratio of shear stress to the displacement per unit sample length. It is defined as a material property with a value equal to the shear stress divided by the shear strain.

As the fluid (liquids &gases) deforms under the action of shear stress or does not provide resistance to shear stress, shear modulus of fluid is assumed to be zero.
