Indian Railways network has three types of tracks or railway gauges. They are Broad gauge (1676 mm), Meter gauge (1000mm) and Narrow gauge (762mm).
The main drawback of the railway network in India is the presence of these three types of gauges as switching between gauges causes delays in transportation thus decreasing the efficiency of the Indian Railways network.
